How we help

How we help

We work with partner charities and organisations to identify talent and commitment and develop programmes of training, experience and mentoring which transform passion into performance and capability into careers.

Our partners

Our programmes are designed to provide more than just financial aid; they offer mentorship, real-world experiences and a supportive network that helps young people navigate their paths to success.

We know the impact of a life changing opportunity will be counted not just in the number of young people to whom we offer a helping hand, but in the inspirational and motivational effect they will go on to have on their peers and communities. It is this multiplying effect that we seek to achieve.

Partner charities and organisations we have worked with:

Alsama

Alsama has created education centres, sports hubs and social enterprises in refugee camps in Lebanon. Their projects are run for – and, in large part, run by – refugee communities. Alsama has introduced cricket to young refugees to enhance teamwork and individual confidence and wellbeing. We partnered with Alsama to offer the opportunity for 2 young cricketers from the UK to enhance their coaching skills, experience and motivation by volunteering with Alsama in Lebanon. Sadly, the project has been temporarily suspended due to the political situation.

Bradford City Girls

The community football programme at Bradford City is run by one of the recipients of teamArchie’s initial football bursaries, Qasim Akhtar. Qasim has built up the girls programme and now has over 300 girls aged 8-18 playing and graduating to the senior and semi-professional teams. teamArchie has supported access to the club through outreach events and assistance with kit costs. Support for coaching and referee training and qualifications will also develop the next generation of club leaders.

Clipper Round the World Yacht Race

We partner with Clipper Ventures to offer a bursary for a young person to take part in the first leg of the Clipper Race. The experience, skills and confidence they gain from their voyage will help them pursue qualifications and a career in sail training or professional racing. Both our bursary recipients so far though have come to us through sail training charities and never thought sailing across the Atlantic was possible for someone like them. Both have returned to work for the charities who introduced them to sailing where they are inspiring the next generation.

First Story

First Story is a literacy charity for young people. They place professional writers in schools in creatively underserved communities where they inspire and motivate students to have the confidence and skills to tell their own stories. teamArchie supports their annual summer residential course which enables 16 young people to experience living away from home for a week in the poet Ted Hughes former home in Yorkshire. Here inspired by the freedom of their situation and the landscape, they write and learn with and from their peers and professional writers.

Football Beyond Borders

FBB Works with young people who are passionate about football but disengaged at school. They are given support to finish school with the skills and grades to successfully transition to adulthood. teamArchie is discussing with FBB how we can help with leadership training for the youth council, and funding for coaching and referee training and qualifications. Roya, one of the recipients of our very first football bursaries worked for FBB before taking on her new role as Head Coach to the Chelsea LFC under 16s.

Future Talent

teamArchie is supporting 2 annual bursaries for gifted young musicians. The young brass players are mentored by Archie’s cousin Matilda Lloyd, who is an international trumpet soloist. They are provided with financial support for music, lessons and instruments; as well as opportunities through Future Talent for performance, masterclasses, and networking with their peers and industry professionals. Future Talent is a charity which seeks to break down the financial and social barriers which prevent young musicians from low income backgrounds achieving their potential.

Greenhouse Sports

Greenhouse is a London-based charity that uses sport to engage young people and improve their life chances. We have worked with both the youth council at Greenhouse and with the table tennis development squad (Archie loved table tennis!). Our current project helps Greenhouse explore how they can continue to provide support to young people beyond school. A small group of students who have come through the table tennis programmes are being offered coaching courses and an opportunity to find employment through Greenhouse and its partners.

New Adventures

teamArchie supported New Adventures to run their emerging artist programme which enables talented young dancers from underrepresented backgrounds to transition from college to a professional dance career. teamArchie has supported 2 emerging artists – Eve and Perry. Previously we supported 4 young associates as well as a number of outreach community programmes. New Adventures staff also helped us mentor a young teacher and choreographer from our Seenaryo project in Jordan.

Seenaryo

Seenaryo runs theatre and play-based learning projects with refugee and other marginalised communities in Lebanon and Jordan. teamArchie has supported children’s theatre projects (showbuilds) for a number of years. We are now supporting a new programme which will equip young people who have graduated from children’s theatre with transferable skills and the confidence to make them employable in the arts or business world.

SEJA

SEJA means “to be” in Portuguese – the language of the favellas in Brazil where Seja started its work. The charity supports local change makers – young people who set up community projects to inspire and motivate children living in some of the most deprived areas of the world. teamArchie supported projects in Brazil which engaged young people in football to provide them with a safe space for childhood and learning.

Snow Camp

By offering the opportunity to learn to ski and snowboard at indoor and dry ski slopes, Snow Camp engages with young people, who are referred to them through charities and social services, to provide skills and wellbeing support. teamArchie funds a number of individuals each year who have shown particular application and passion in their first experience of snow sports. Through more advanced training and apprenticeships, they gain work placement and practical experience, and qualifications with which to pursue careers in the sports and leisure industries. They also get to experience their first ever week skiing in the mountains.

Thriving Through Venture (TTV)

TTV is a charity local to teamArchie which supports teenagers in local schools who, whether through social or personal struggles, are not thriving in school. They run programmes using skills such as photography which explore young people’s sense of identity and community. As part of this they also study life in Marlborough’s twin town Gunjur in the Gambia. The culmination of the programme is a visit to Gunjur which challenges both the British and Gambian young people’s perceptions of their lives. teamArchie has funded bursaries for the Gambia trip.
