Meet our mentors
At teamArchie, we believe in the transformative power of mentorship. Our mentors are passionate about giving back and empowering others to achieve their dreams. They come from diverse backgrounds and bring a wealth of experiences to the table.
Contact usMel Bowker
Mel has been a brilliant mentor to our New Adventures Emerging Artist apprentices. Having had a successful career as a personal assistant to corporate and media luminaries she is delighted to now have the capacity to be involved with a couple of charities that are close to her heart – teamArchie and the Royal Marsden. She is a wonderfully calm and practical support to young people starting out on demanding professional lives.
George Bullard
George is a world record-breaking explorer and endurance athlete. At the age of nineteen, he completed the world’s longest fully unsupported polar journey making a 1374 mile return crossing of the Greenland Icecap. He is passionate about encouraging others to embark on their own adventures, embrace strengths, overcome weaknesses, and confront the challenge of the ‘unthinkable’.
Nick Gubbins
Nick is a professional cricketer. He is captain of the Hampshire one day side having moved to the Ageas Bowl in 2021 after 8 years with his home club Middlesex CCC. He is a top order batsman and has toured 3 times with England Lions.
Matilda Lloyd
Matilda is Archie’s cousin. She is an international trumpet soloist and is currently touring her best selling album Casta Diva. She studied at the Royal Academy of Music and was the BBC Young Musician of the Year Brass winner in 2014.
John Olsen
John has known the Lloyd family for most of his life. In 2017 he stepped away from his 30 year PR career and took part in the Clipper Round the World Yacht Race. Whilst the race is an outstanding experience, the costs involved make it inaccessible to many people and arguably least accessible to those who could gain the most from it. This thought seeded the idea of the TeamArchie Clipper Race bursary, with the first recipient joining the 2019/20 race edition and sailing over 7,000 miles from the UK to Uruguay. With his own knowledge of the Clipper Race and the experiences it provides, John is proud to help mentor the young people chosen by TeamArchie for this life-changing opportunity.
Will Hinkley
Will was at school with Archie and at university with Hugo, Archie’s brother. Will had become a hugely successful entrepreneur whilst a student and so seemed the ideal fit to mentor Roya when her Sunday Soccer League felt like it needed securing. Will helped on a personal level and, as a great communicator, assisted with the business protection needed. Both Roya and Will admitted that the mentoring experience was enriching and enlightening.
Claire Lloyd
Claire has a degree in English & Philosophy, work experience in Lloyds of London, headhunting, teaching and the creation of an educational manifesto for youth groups. TeamArchie was set up in 2016 by friends and family and Claire has subsequently developed the charity partnerships and programmes and mentored a number of the young people coming through those programmes. “Not a day goes by that we don’t remember Archie and wish our circumstances were different. However, the inspirational young people that we meet through the charity, give us the resolve to ensure that their outcomes and potential are improved. Close contact with my mentees has taught me so much and I hope they have found in me, a sympathetic and insightful safe life coach. I want to help empower young people with essential life skills, help foster their personal growth, emotional resilience and help them acquire the skills to overcome life’s challenges."
